Charles Winkler
Prima Domra
Charles Winkler is currently the principal 2nd prima domra with the Washington Balalaika Society Orchestra. He was a Soviet/Russian and East European specialist and linguist in several languages for the Library of Congress and the U.S. Department of Defense for many years. He is Concertmaster of the Rapidan Community Orchestra and also plays 1st violin with the Blue Ridge Chamber Orchestra in Charlottesville VA. He plays mandolin and sings lead & tenor with the Grim Pickers bluegrass band. His favorite Eastern European song is the Serbian "Da je višnja k'o trešnja..."
