Kathleen L. Hulan* is Chief Financial Officer to the WBS Board of Directors, and worked in financial management since 1980 at various non-profit organizations in Washington, D.C. Now retired, she started the WBS Music Academy in February of 2009 to teach children to play Russian folk instruments and to help them appreciate the rich musical tradition of Russia and Eastern Europe.
Her duties as Chief Financial officer of the WBS include contract management and logistics for performances in addition to the financial oversight of the orchestra. Working with the WBS Treasurer, she ensures internal controls and analyses of the financial records and budgets for the board.
She and her husband, Dick, joined the Washington Balalaika Society orchestra in 1992 where she now plays prima domra. Kathy and Dick are members of several ensembles of the Washington Balalaika Society, including the Beltway Balalaikas and the Russkie Musikanti.
