Tetiana Khomenko
Balalaika
Tetiana Khomenko is a graduate of the Gliere Kyiv Institute of Music, and earned a master’s degree at the P. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy, studying under Honored Artist of Ukraine, Professor Yuri Aleksyk. When she was studying at the R. Gliere Kyiv Institute of Music, she has won national competitions, such as the Festival of Ukrainian song (Kyiv, 2001), Contest of Folk Instruments "Provesin" (Kirovograd, 2001), and Vojvodin’s Dynasty (Lugansk, 2004). She has performed solo concerts in Ukraine and abroad, particularly in the Column Hall of the National Philharmonic, Kyiv. Since 2004 she has been the concertmaster of the Orchestra of Folk Instruments at R. Gliere Kyiv Institute of Music, directed by Ihor Savkov. In June 2011, she was the winner of the International Contest - Festival of "Folk Music Samorodki" in Sevastopol (first prize) as a soloist and in duet (balalaika and piano). In 2013, she became the organizer of the instrumental quartet BRAVO Band. Over the years, the quartet took part in musical and cultural events of local and national importance. In June 2013, BRAVO Band received the title of laureate of international competitions.
